Diary book from the other day, when I was being the cleaner for my self initiated project.

Looking at the soles of shoes for one of the many holiday projects. Love the Nike Blazer pattern. The brief is about creating a tag for yourself, but I hate graffiti. So I'm looking at mark making with your sole of your shoe by exploiting the materials around you. Will keep you posted.

Earlier in the term, for a "Visual Thinking" project we were given a piece of stationary to investigate into and to create a film that gives insight into the tool. Propella, John, Jade and I were given the red, berol felt tip pen which we have loved to hate. As part of our film we coloured the walls of my living room with this tool. Quite a long job!

Fruit boxes

Today when I was out and about running some errands. I found some really lovely fruit boxes in the rubbish pile by the market on Strutton Ground. I only decided to take two boxes because that was all I could carry at the time.

Ta-da! I have now decided to use the boxes as stacking shoe storage. Which I think looks quite smart considering it was free.

It reminds me of Michael Marriot's draw unit (above) made from Spanish orange crates, peg board and birch plywood. You can read my post about his work by clicking here.

Here are some images of the making of my self portrait. I decided to sew it because I always hate how I look in photographs, especially passport ones and things for official documents. So I decided to create a version of myself, which could be taken to photobooths instead of me.

Girls+Zines @ Tatty Devine

This is the show that I curated this summer! After completing my foundation I just wanted to do my own thing and write my own brief for once. I have been making zines since I was fifteen and it's such a big part of my life, so I wanted to put on a show to celebrate all the brilliant people who make zines in their bedrooms at night. My friends at Tatty Devine were kind enough to host the show and it runs till late September. 

The show consisted of a zine library that people could browse and donate their own zines to, I really wanted to encourage reading so I created beanbags and a seating area for people to lounge in. I received an overwhelming amount of submissions to the show so I created a zine exchange where people could bring along their own publication and do a swap. I screen printed my own publication to go with the show, also. After the show I am donating all the publications to the Women's Library in Shoreditch to be archived and read by future generations.

It was really exciting putting on my own show! As it was my first time doing one by myself, I have learnt so much and also thought of so many ways I can improve it.
It would be great to do another one next summer or even a pop-up shop.
