Andy Rementer is one of my favourite illustrators, his zines are so funny, his gouaches are gorgeous and he sends really nice letters too. Above are some goodies my parents bought back for me from his private view in the Hague. If you happen to be in the Netherlands in the next month, it could be cool to go to. I know I would if I was in the area.

A project by Gamper Martino which I think is really great and am gutted I missed it in London.
Daniel Eatock's pairings just work. Every Wednesday he is at the Stanley Piker Gallery (in Kingston) exploring new pairings of objects and documenting the works and you can pop in and say hello, a bit like Pick Me Up but far more nice and cosy.

Amelia and I went to see Hockney last week at the Royal Academy. Was mental and mentally busy. Think I'm going to have revisit it a few times till I can say something actually coherent about it. The room with his sketchbooks was so ace. But for now I will leave you with some sly phone photos.
And how charming is Hockney's framing. Forget mounting, he's just gone for masking tape. Brilliant.

Yesterday afternoon, I went to a laugh out loud exhibition. Obviously, it was David Shrigley at the Hayward Gallery. It was such a nice change to see people walking round a gallery chuckling and smiling, made me think loads about the kind of work I want to be making. Work that anyone can get whether they're into art or not, work that you don't have to stand next to explaining your concept to for five minutes.
Shrigley put on a great show. Photography, sculpture, animation, painting, taxidermy, iron casting, biscuits, drawings - I don't think Shrigley has a preference, he just uses the materials and processes he thinks will do the job. So cool! As it's so easy to get stuck in a rut. Such an inspiring and feel good show. Can't wait to sit down and read through the book.

Last month I helped the wicked guys at It's Nice That out on their latest collab/project. Which involved putting fortunes into thousands and thousands of plastic balls for Selfridges's "words words words" show, for a massive fortune-teller-rollercoaster-thing.

There are 30,000 different fortunes to be taken home, this is mine ...
Also, if you are at Selfridges Tatty Devine have got an instore workshop in the Wonder Room which is also part of "words words words". So many cool people at Selfrigdges at the moment!
Kim Jenkins is pretty cool and she makes really neat work. She shares a studio with my mum and I love her work and peeping at her cool stuff and machines around her desk. Thought I would post a few of the cool things she makes but check out more on her website ...

Nick Fraser is a really cool product designer I recently discovered. The way he transforms everyday items is brilliant. Here are two of my favourites....
The chair/table is also a stroke of genius design in my opinion. Shame you can't use both at the same time though.

I think you should ask for this book for Christmas. It is a totally insightful look at design, whether visual, graphic or industrial design. The language is really simple and it is broken down into small chapters - perfect for bad readers. Perfect for dipping in and out of. My favourite part is when he analyses pea pods and oranges in terms of packaging design - sheer genius.
Also "The Philosophy of Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again" is one of my favourites I always dip into. Definitely borrow or steal this of someone or even buy it. This autobiography by Andy W is so insightful into his bonkers life. It's soo bonkers, once you finish reading it you feel like you have the most boring life ever. He covers his thoughts on love, beauty, fame, work, time, death, economics, food, atmosphere, art and success - perfect. If you're feeling uninspired read this and whether you love it or hate it you'll wanna make some stuff.

Lately I have been doing a lot of drooling over furniture. My current favourite to drool over are Ray and Charles Eames. Just want to fill my room full of their things! Such beautiful, considered objects - what a dream team.

Was having a soso Monday until I discovered the work of Felix de Pass. A Design Products graduate from the RCA. His products are brilliantly functional with aesthetics deriving from material construction. My personal favourite is his "Bin Frame" - a simple wire frame that supports the universal plastic carrier bag transforming it into a bin.

Artists Lars Marcus Vedeler and Theo Tveteras love to win solitare on computers. So much so, that they have created a fantastic 3D representation of winning the game when you play it on a PC.

Rose B
Earlier this week I bumped into Rose Blake in the canteen at university. And it totally reminded me that I haven't written about her work here at all (apart from This Is It collective).
Rose graduated from Kingston several years ago studying Illustration and then moved onto the RCA. Her illustrations are so charming in my opinion. Every time I go to bed and turn my lights off I see her lovely drawing.
Also you can get her illustrations on tees. I have my eye and this one, I saw in June at the art carboot sale at her family's stall. So nice.
And Rose also runs a terrific website called "Studio Music". The website allows you to hear what different artists/designers/photographers listen to in their studios (two new artists are uploaded each week). While you're listening you can read why they like the tracks, bit like desert island disks really.
Yes, she's pretty cool.
